About the Master Painters Awards

The Master Painters Association (MPA) represents the painting industry in Australia and aims to promote high standards of trade workmanship and ethical business practice. The Master Painters ‘Awards for Excellence’ recognises work of the highest quality in our industry each year. S & D Painters is honoured to have been a finalist and winner in these prestigious awards for our workmanship for our residential work. We’re proud of our talented and committed team – without them we could not have won these awards.

Vale Street, Bundamba

Winner 2023, Domestic Single Dwelling Interior Exterior Repaint under $40K

The owners of Vale Street believed their peeling old Queenslander could be turned from a knockdown to a knockout home and they were right.

They engaged S & D Painters to help revive this once forgotten house into a stunning new home both inside and out. Our team repaired every imperfection to make the exterior weatherboards and woodwork look like new and executed the high contrast scheme with precision to achieve a beautiful, high-quality and long-lasting finish, transforming the home both inside and out.

Our team safely removed the lead-based paint, stripping much of the timber back to bare boards. This project required meticulous preparation and high-level heritage painting and restoration skills to renew badly damaged surfaces to an as-new, high-end finish.

For the interior, we restored and repainted VJ panelling and walls, original doors and decorative woodwork, water-damaged ceilings and leadlight window frames. We spray-finished the VJs in low sheen, and used acrylic gloss enamel on the woodwork for a beautiful, smooth hard-wearing finish.

The new owners of this stunning 117 year old building purchased their new home in 2021 and engaged S & D Painters to give their old girl a new look. The entire exterior was thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared with a high attention to detail to ensure a perfectly smooth finish throughout, including the removal of loose paint and debris, priming, filling and sealing. Two coats of Dulux Weathershield Exterior were then applied to ensure a long-lasting finish.

Our interior painting work included ceilings, walls, skirtings, doors and frames and concrete block work around the original bank safe. Our crew painted all interior walls and ceilings to an exceptional finish using techniques, including fine sanding and multiple topcoats. A high-level of technical skill and attention-to-detail was needed to cut in around custom cabinetry and fittings and achieve a beautiful finish free of imperfections.

Our client was extremely satisfied with the detail taken by our diligent team to transform their home to be like “new” and with beautiful street appeal.
